Tip 195 – Easily Add a Text Box to an Excel Chart

To add text to your chart, first click on the chart to select it. In the ribbon, select the Chart Tools Layout tab and select Chart Area from the dropdown menu at the top right if it is not already selected. Under Insert select Shapes and choose the rectangle shape. Click and drag your mouse to create the rectangle shape wherever you want your chart’s text box. With the box created, begin typing to add your text. Whenever you move your chart the textbox will move with it.
